Two Arrested, Two Wanted in Sweepstakes Café Break-Ins and Larceny Cases in Pitt County

PITT COUNTY, N.C. — Two men have been arrested and charged in connection with a series of breaking and entering incidents and larceny from sweepstakes cafes in Eastern North Carolina, while two additional suspects remain at large, authorities said.

According to the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of break-ins on August 1, 2025, at both Lucky 7 Sweepstakes in Stokes and 264 Sweepstakes in Greenville.

After reviewing the evidence, detectives identified four suspects. On August 23, officers with the Wilson Police Department arrested two of the suspects connected to the crimes.

The two men arrested were identified as:

  • Marquavious Jermel Atkinson, 29, of Wilson

  • Demetric Jamarus Ward, 28, of Wilson

Both were charged with:

  • Two counts of breaking and entering

  • Larceny after breaking and entering

  • Two counts of conspiracy to break and enter/larceny

  • Safecracking

  • Felony conspiracy (safecracking)

  • Felony conspiracy (larceny)

  • Two counts of possession of burglary tools

Authorities confirmed that two additional suspects remain wanted on the same charges and urged anyone with information to contact the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office.
