NORTH CAROLINA — Three teenagers were arrested early Tuesday morning after a series of car break-ins in Cary ended with two separate crashes, according to police.
Around 2:45 a.m., officers responded to reports of four vehicles broken into at an apartment complex on Ansley Stream Lane, just off N.C. Highway 55. While heading to the scene, police spotted two Kias matching descriptions of the suspects’ vehicles — both of which were later confirmed to be stolen.
When officers attempted a traffic stop, the drivers fled.
One white Kia continued on N.C. 55 into Apex, where it collided with an SUV near Salem Street and Apex Peakway. Two juveniles were arrested at the scene, and one was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The SUV driver was not injured.
The second Kia fled onto U.S. Highway 1, exited at Walnut Street, and eventually crashed near the Olive Garden at Crossroads Plaza in Cary. Another juvenile suspect was taken into custody there, police said.
All three suspects are under the age of 17 and have not been identified due to their ages. The investigation remains ongoing.
