ORISKANY FALLS — A patrol deputy from the Waterville Field Office conducted a traffic stop involving a Chevrolet box truck on Cottage Street on Sunday around 9:53 a.m., according to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol.
The driver was identified as Vance Tallman of Augusta. Deputies discovered he was operating the vehicle with a suspended registration and a revoked driver’s license.
During the investigation, authorities found a large cane sword and a quantity of crack cocaine in Tallman’s possession.
Tallman was arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree (a felony), aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the 3rd degree, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, operating without insurance, and improper/dirty license plate.
He was taken to the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building for processing and later turned over to the Oneida County Jail, where he remains in custody awaiting arraignment.
The Road Patrol received assistance from the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit and Clinton Collision Towing.
