NORTH CAROLINA — A man from Atlanta died Friday morning after being rescued from the ocean at Nags Head.
Around 10:15 a.m., Nags Head Fire and Rescue responded to the Glidden public beach access following reports of a swimmer in distress.
Volunteers pulled the man from the water before first responders arrived. He was taken to The Outer Banks Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Officials said it remains unclear whether rip currents contributed to the incident. The man’s identity has not yet been released.
