One Person Critically Injured in Shooting at Indiana Gas Station

INDIANA — A man is in critical condition after a shooting early Sunday morning on the city’s east side, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD).

Officers responded around 1 a.m. on Sept. 7 to a BP gas station in the 5400 block of East 16th Street, near North Ritter and Emerson avenues, following reports of a person shot.

When police arrived, they found a man in the backseat of his car with gunshot wounds to his legs. He was immediately taken for medical treatment and remains in critical condition.

Investigators are still working to determine what led to the shooting, why the victim was in the backseat, whether someone drove him to the station, and who the possible suspects might be.
