INDIANAPOLIS — A person died following a two-vehicle crash on the city’s north side Saturday afternoon, according to Indianapolis police.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s North District were called to the intersection of 43rd Street and North Meridian Street at 4:04 p.m. for a report of a personal injury crash.
They arrived to find two vehicles involved, with one occupant ejected from a vehicle. That person was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.
Investigators believe a southbound vehicle on North Meridian Street collided with another vehicle heading west on 43rd Street. The person who died was a passenger in the vehicle traveling on 43rd Street.
Police said intoxication is not suspected. Both drivers submitted to blood draws, which is standard procedure in fatal crashes.
