FLAT GAP, Ky. — A Johnson County man is behind bars after his girlfriend told police he beat her unconscious, moments before she collapsed and was hospitalized.
A sheriff’s deputy responded to a home on Ross Creek Road Saturday night after the woman’s son reported receiving a panicked call from his mother, saying she was being assaulted. When the deputy arrived, he found the woman on the front porch, extremely distraught, with her face bloody and swollen.
She identified her boyfriend, 43-year-old Brian Travis Click of Flat Gap, as the attacker and said he beat her until she lost consciousness. The woman later passed out again and was rushed to the hospital, where she was intubated. According to the police report, doctors feared she may have suffered a brain bleed.
Police located Click around midnight. He admitted they had argued but claimed he dropped her off at home and left.
The deputy observed scratch marks on Click’s chest, which he said were caused by his girlfriend.
Click was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, a felony that carries a possible 10-to-20-year prison sentence. He is currently being held at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville.
