The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) has joined the national Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign to combat drunk driving in the city.
Throughout this month, IMPD will increase patrols and set up sobriety checkpoints to deter and catch impaired drivers.
The campaign enforces a zero-tolerance policy aimed at reducing intoxicated driving incidents across Indiana.
In a Facebook post, IMPD urged residents to plan ahead, designate a sober driver, or use a taxi or rideshare service.
The department stressed that driving while intoxicated is both illegal and dangerous.
IMPD is asking for public cooperation during September to help ensure safer roads and prevent impaired driving.
