Three Williamson residents were arrested on Sept. 9 after allegedly shoplifting from several stores in the Cassady Boulevard area of Pikeville, Kentucky.

According to court documents, police received a call around 3:10 p.m. reporting shoplifting at Tractor Supply. The caller said two men and a woman had stuffed items into their pockets without paying and drove off in a truck with a West Virginia license plate.

Officer Daniel Fields spoke with Tractor Supply employees, who reported the suspects stole several knives and other items.

Capt. Chad Branham, on routine patrol near Pike Central High School along U.S. 119, spotted a vehicle matching the description and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver was identified as Louie Gauze, 54, of Gauze Hill, Williamson, and the passengers as Christel Adkins, 46, of Goodman Avenue, Williamson, and William H. Marcum, 47, of Winco Lane, Williamson.

Court documents state Gauze had an extradition warrant from Ohio and handed over several pocket knives still in packaging when informed of the shoplifting allegations.

A search of the vehicle uncovered additional merchandise, including items from Marshalls and Walmart, which had not been paid for.

Gauze was arrested and charged with being a fugitive from justice, theft, and traffic violations. Adkins and Marcum were also charged with theft.

All three were booked into the Pike County Detention Center.
