“We are aware of the recent car break-ins throughout the community and have been coordinating with Chattanooga Police Department (CPD). Despite having a gated community with cameras on site, these incidents have still occurred. The safety and well-being of our residents is a top priority, which is why we have requested that CPD host a safety meeting with our residents this week and requested additional patrols and resources as a precaution while their investigation continues.”

Residents Speak Out

Brenton Presley, a resident, says both his and his sister’s cars were stolen, with his sister’s vehicle totaled and his own car recently taken. Presley, who has lived at the complex for four months, expressed fear and frustration:
“Honestly a little scared for the first time in my life.”

He says he has asked management for security improvements such as more cameras, better lighting, and regular patrols, but claims little has changed.

“Management still refuses to do anything. I spoke to them face to face, and they made sure I knew that security wasn’t their job. It’s their job to provide a place to dwell.”

Presley also noted that although there is a courtesy officer, he has never seen them on duty and is now considering moving out, though lease restrictions make leaving costly.

Police Advice

The Chattanooga Police Department reminds residents to lock their vehicles and keep valuables out of sight. Despite recent incidents at Hunter’s Point, police report a 23.32% decrease in car thefts overall in 2025.

Authorities continue to investigate the recent thefts at the apartment complex.
