Kentucky is pushing the Pre-K For All initiative, aiming to provide free pre-kindergarten for every 4-year-old in the state. The program seeks to expand public education and support job growth, potentially boosting the workforce by 70,000 people.

Since the program’s launch, over 21,000 Kentuckians have contacted legislators to show support. Families could save an estimated $7,000 per year per child, while improving kindergarten readiness in a state where over half of children currently enter school unprepared.

Governor Andy Beshear emphasized the program’s community focus:

“We want Pre-K For All to be the people’s plan. We’ve traveled across the state, hosting town halls in Frankfort, Northern Kentucky, Bowling Green, and Morehead to hear from parents, businesses, and community leaders.”

The initiative is non-political, designed to provide quality education and help Kentucky catch up to neighboring states. West Virginia, for example, has run a similar program for the past 20 years.

Officials encourage residents to share their input with local legislators. More information is available at PreK4All.Ky.gov.
