JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) — Two men have been sentenced to probation after attacking a person in downtown Iowa City.

Authorities said 22-year-old Ryan Maschmann and 21-year-old Landan Provino, both from Wayland, were arrested in December 2024 for the assault.

According to court documents, three men followed and attacked the victim after a fight on Dec. 14, 2024, in the 200 block of East College Street.

Maschmann and two others grabbed the victim from behind, pinned their arms, and repeatedly punched, kicked, and stomped on them—even after the victim lost consciousness.

Maschmann pleaded guilty in March to willful injury and participation in a riot. On June 19, he was sentenced to five years of probation.

Provino received the same sentence and was sentenced to five years of probation on Thursday.
