IOWA CITY, Iowa — A 34-year-old Iowa City man has been sentenced to nine years in federal prison after being convicted on gun and drug charges, according to court records.
Janard Fitzgerald Goins was found guilty of:
-
Possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance
-
Possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime
During a search warrant at Goins’ residence, law enforcement discovered methamphetamine, crack cocaine, marijuana, nearly $6,000 in cash, and a pistol. Investigators also found evidence of drug trafficking on Goins’ phone.
Because this is a federal case, Goins is not eligible for parole. After serving his sentence, he will be placed on three years of supervised release.
