KENTUCKY — Police have arrested a 24-year-old man following a string of storage unit break-ins along Menards Street in Bowling Green.

According to the Bowling Green Police Department, Denver C. Hedges was taken into custody early Wednesday after an investigation that began Tuesday. Officers discovered 14 storage units with cut padlocks and multiple stolen items at 1945 Menards Street.

Surveillance footage captured a suspect — later identified as Hedges — dressed in black clothing and a black mask, using bolt cutters to break into the units. His vehicle was also recorded at the scene, and a witness confirmed seeing him cutting locks and removing property.

When questioned at his home, Hedges reportedly gave conflicting statements — first denying he had been at the facility, then claiming someone borrowed his car, and later saying he was helping a friend move items. A search of his vehicle uncovered bolt cutters with markings matching the damaged locks, investigators said.

Hedges is being held at the Warren County Regional Jail and faces:

  • 14 counts of third-degree burglary

  • First-degree criminal mischief

  • Possession of burglary tools

The investigation is ongoing.
